Gerry,

1 on your main page for item in question click "Edit"

2 on next page click on "change files"

3 next page under "Manage your Directory Tree" delete all files except your original up load file, and the 2 blanked out files (which wont delete anyway, they hold your history and item description)read the tip on deleting many files first

4 click on update item

5 top right, click on (to change information/metadata about your item instead, click here)

6 which brings up back to your edit page

7 near the top find "You may also visit the Item Manager"

8 click on "file manager"

There you will find this

change any new file formats.Re-Derive
Description This queues up a task in the system to create or re-create derivative files in the specified item as needed. For example, for movies, the task would be to regenerate animated GIFs, streaming MPEG4 files, etc., as needed.

Which in affect, does the same as if you had just uploaded for the first time.

I just found it 2 days ago, when wanting to re-derive, I was looking for something like that, I never had time to go back to it, once I understood the rest of it, i was hoping to find the answer to you question on changing types.

peter,

Yes that should do it; but for some reason would not work that way with the old interface. Hope they fix the interface soon my uploads are backing up.

Maybe the old interface is on the way out, and they forgot to tell us, or, we are supposed to work it out for ourselves, but that page of re derive, I suggest you check out all you can do there for new things not possible before.

I hate it, when I get used to something, then it is replaced with the new super model with futures I will never use.

I am struggling to clear my RSS feeds, of not just IA, its close to 1000 when Google reader stops counting, so no uploads from me, plus I have to take it easy for a few days.

Glad I could help, your name is easy to spot too in my RSS feed

Are you saying the standard uploader used to automatically recreate the files?

Not knowing that, when I changed my PDF not the other files did not change I found that method, then thought it was the only way. that suggests something major wrong somewhere.

I also had to close Firefox to clear the buffer, before the read on line file updated, before I restarted Firefox, I had to reload the read on line text each time I checked it for the update.
